Ohio Authorities Warn of 100 Deadliest Days of Summer For Teen Drivers

< 1 min read

COLUMBUS, Ohio-The “100 deadliest days of summer,” spanning from Memorial to Labor Day, has begun, with a significant increase in teen crashes reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Franklin County ranks among the top five counties for fatal crashes involving teens during this period, prompting Ohio State Highway Patrol to urge young drivers to be more attentive. In 2023, over 100 fatal crashes involving youths were recorded in Ohio during this timeframe.

AAA Foundation research reveals that the majority of casualties in crashes involving teen drivers are non-teen occupants. Recommendations include avoiding reckless driving behaviors like speeding, distraction, and driving under the influence. Ohio State Highway Patrol reports 24 fatal crashes on Memorial Day last year alone.
