April 7th, 2024-WAREEN, Ohio-Trumbull County Children Services has launched its annual ‘Pinwheels for Prevention’ campaign in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month in April. The display features over 1,100 pinwheels, each symbolizing a reported case of child abuse in Trumbull County in 2023 and representing advocates who reported suspected abuse or neglect.
Officials stress the importance of recognizing signs of child endangerment, such as changes in behavior or withdrawal. Statistics from the Center for Disease Control indicate that 1 in 7 children experienced abuse or neglect in the past year. Trumbull County Children Services assures the public that all calls to report abuse are confidential and crucial for ensuring child safety.
