LAKEMORE, Ohio-During a special meeting on February 8, the Springfield Local Schools Board of Education approved a resolution for Superintendent Shelley Monachino to execute a final tentative collective bargaining agreement with the Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE) 179 classified personnel. The agreement spans from July 2023 to June 2025 and includes a 2% raise each year.
Treasurer Christopher Adams noted that teaching assistants’ pay rates were also adjusted to be more competitive. Monachino expressed support for the agreement, emphasizing the transparent and fair negotiation process. A resident raised concerns about perceived unfairness in the contract, suggesting it favored new employees over long-term ones. Two employees shared similar sentiments, expressing dissatisfaction with the contract’s terms and the timeframe given for review and signing.
