Bills Targeting Ohio’s Infant Mortality, Family Supports hurrying Toward Lame Duck Deadline

< 1 min read

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Ohio legislators are considering two bills aimed at improving support for families, addressing infant and maternal mortality, and enhancing early childhood care. The Strong Foundations Act, a bipartisan Senate bill, seeks to leverage community resources to improve Ohio’s poor infant and maternal mortality rates. Simultaneously, House Bill 7 aims to modernize the WIC nutrition assistance program, increase home visits, promote early intervention, and expand engagement in early Head Start programs. Sponsors Representative Andrea White and Representative Latyna M. Humphrey are advocating for these changes, emphasizing both the moral and economic benefits of supporting families from pregnancy through early childhood.
