BRUNSWICK, Ohio-A 4-year-old girl in Brunswick fell into a manhole on November 23 while walking with her grandmother. The loose manhole cover gave way when the child stepped on it. Her grandmother, who has lupus, struggled to pull her out. The girl was hospitalized but only suffered minor scratches and bruises. Cleveland Water later placed cones around the manhole, attributing the issue to a defective meter vault lid, which they said was the property owner’s responsibility. The girl’s mother is concerned about safety and hopes no other children are harmed.
