Chronic Absenteeism Program, Parent Advocate Helps Springfield, Clark County Students

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio-Advocates for Basic Legal Equality Inc. (ABLE), in collaboration with the Clark County Juvenile Court and Springfield City Schools, has implemented the SUCCESS program to tackle chronic absenteeism among elementary and middle-school aged children and families in the Springfield and Clark County area.

Launched in early 2022 and funded by the Supreme Court of Ohio, the Springfield Foundation, and the Community Health Foundation, this program takes a multidisciplinary approach to address absenteeism. When a child in a participating Springfield school is identified as chronically absent, the SUCCESS program team intervenes to work with the family, offering services to resolve any issues hindering the child’s school attendance.
