WAYNE, Ohio-The Wayne National Forest will host a children’s fishing derby at Lake Vesuvius Boat Ramp on Saturday, May 18. Open to kids aged 4–17 accompanied by a parent, registration starts at 8 a.m., with the competition at 9 a.m. Alongside fishing, there’ll be other activities and informational booths.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their fishing gear; limited poles and bait will be provided. Lunch will be provided, including hotdogs, chips, and soda. Safety measures include the closure of the boat ramp at 6 a.m. and reopening by 2 p.m. Event partners include ODNR, Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District, and others.
