Ohio bill looks to make it easier to prosecute parents who enable underage drinking

< 1 min read

Ohio lawmakers are attempting to make it easier to prosecute parents and other adults who enable underage drinking.

House Bill 19, sponsored by Reps. Adam Bird (R-New Richmond) and Josh Williams (R-Sylvania Township), would change one word in the Ohio Revised Code. Currently, it is illegal for adults to “knowingly” allow underage individuals, who are not one’s own child, to possess or consume alcohol. HB 19 would change the word “knowingly” to “recklessly.”
