CLEVELAND, Ohio-Cleveland Metropolitan School District celebrated its “Excellence in Teaching” awards on Tuesday, honoring 10 teachers from different schools for their outstanding contributions. Schools CEO Warren Morgan described the event as one of the best days of the school year, emphasizing the teachers’ success in connecting with students and inspiring their peers. Award winner LaTrice Shields credited her recognition to the support of her students, parents, and colleagues. The awards are supported by the Cleveland Foundation and the Gund Foundation. The winners include:
– Patrice Forney Perkins (pre-K, Harvey Rice Wraparound School)
– April Saxon (fifth grade, Nathan Hale School)
– LaTrice Shields (physical education, Warner Girls’ Leadership Academy)
– Katherine Moskal (first to third grade, Tremont Montessori)
– Leslie Petrie (fifth grade, Buhrer Dual Language Academy)
– Anthony Simeone (ninth to 12th grade, The School of One High School)
– Zachary Switzer (ninth to 12th grade, John Marshall School of Information Technology)
– James Musser (11th grade, Rhodes College & Career Academy)
– Lindsey May (11th and 12th grade, Cleveland High School for Digital Arts)
– Jennifer Sindyla (fourth grade, Stonebrook-White Montessori Campus)
