As students prepare to head back to school, the Salvation Army in Northwest Ohio is stepping in to ensure every child starts the year off strong and well-supplied. Major J.R. Fritsch, executive director of the Salvation Army in Northwest Ohio, said the organization is collecting school supplies for its annual backpack giveaway, with plans to distribute more than 800 backpacks to families across Lucas County.
