Crumbling Track At Alexander Puts Athletes, Entire Program At Risk

ALBANY, Ohio-The running track at Alexander High School, constructed fourteen years ago, is deteriorating, posing safety risks for student athletes and hindering their performance. Athletes and parents voiced concerns at a recent school board meeting, emphasizing the urgent need for an upgrade.

The track suffers from breaks, cracks, standing water, and mud, making it unsafe for training and competitions. Head coach Nate Schaller highlighted the challenges athletes face due to injuries caused by the track’s condition. Despite attempts to patch cracks and holes in 2012, the track’s problems persist. A recent land survey revealed that the track was built on a slope, exacerbating the issues. Track parent Russ Norris emphasized the necessity of rebuilding the track from its base to address these structural issues.
