AKRON, Ohio-For the 2024-25 academic year, average tuition for new first-year students at Ohio’s 13 public four-year colleges is approximately $13,000. Almost all of these institutions have raised their tuition rates compared to last year, with state law permitting annual increases of up to 3% for new students. However, once enrolled, students’ tuition remains fixed at the initial rate throughout their undergraduate years, per state law. Some universities also guarantee fixed costs for room and board. The president of the University of Toledo described their tuition increase as incremental and modest, particularly considering inflation, in a recent interview with a local ABC affiliate.
