BOWLING GREEN, Ohio-After nearly a year of virtual meetings due to COVID-19, the Bowling Green Board of Education has decided to continue with virtual meetings but will allow public input next month. Concerns were raised about accommodating public participation, considering the high viewership of online meetings, with over 170 attendees in a recent meeting.
While the Performing Arts Center lobby where meetings were previously held is inadequate for social distancing, the auditorium could accommodate around 125 to 175 people with proper spacing. However, some board members are hesitant to attend in-person meetings until they receive both doses of the COVID vaccine. As a compromise, the board will continue remote meetings but will allow public input through a “waiting room” on Zoom, where participants must have their cameras on, state their name, and limit their comments to three minutes. The exact number of participants allowed was not specified.
