MARIETTA, Ohio-Cheryl Cook, with 56 years of experience in the education system and currently serving as the Washington Elementary School Principal, is retiring.
She began her career after graduating from Ohio University in 1968 and cherishes the memory of being assigned her first classroom. Cook felt teaching was her calling, driven by her love for learning. She will miss the challenges and rewards of the job, particularly the daily hugs from students. One of her favorite aspects is encountering former students who remember her fondly in public.
