TOLEDO, Ohio-Jason Baran, 42, and Maryann Baran, 40, are accused of subjecting their four children to “atrocious and inhumane living conditions” in their west Toledo apartment. They face charges of endangering children, with Jason also charged with obstructing official business and failing to disclose information. Maryann is scheduled for arraignment on September 10. Court documents describe the children living in squalid conditions with no clothes, food, furniture, or lighting. The children were reportedly covered in dirt and feces, with evidence of flies and gnats, and one child had burn marks resembling cigarette burns. Additionally, two of the children had never been enrolled in school. Jason pleaded not guilty, with his bond set at $10,000.
