AKRON, Ohio-Mark Carlson of Cuyahoga Falls is set to be sentenced today in Summit County Common Pleas Court at 9 a.m. for charges related to a carjacking incident at a Taco Bell in Green involving three children. Carlson pleaded guilty last month to multiple charges including robbery, felonious assault, kidnapping, failure to comply, and escape.
The incident occurred on Aug. 3, 2023, when Carlson carjacked a vehicle in Akron and subsequently attempted another carjacking before targeting a vehicle in the Taco Bell drive-thru, forcing his way in with a female driver and her three young children aged 6, 5, and 2 inside.
After crashing into the building and releasing two of the children, Carlson fled with the 2-year-old, eventually abandoning the child at a Circle K and fleeing further before being apprehended by authorities. The mother of the children described the incident as a horrific experience marked by Carlson’s stoic demeanor amidst her pleas for help.
