BOWLING GREEN, Ohio-Conneaut and Kenwood elementary schools, with over 60 years of history, are facing numerous challenges such as inadequate heating, damaged facilities, and limited storage space. Asbestos in the ceilings restricts modifications, and sometimes Conneaut’s art class is held on a cart due to space constraints.
The district organized tours to showcase these issues and advocate for a 5.7-mill levy to construct a centralized elementary and renovate the high school. However, critics oppose the plan, suggesting renovations to the existing schools instead. The tours did little to change opinions, with opponents questioning the need for new construction and proponents emphasizing the urgency of addressing long-standing problems.
