Akron’s St. Vincent-St. Mary High School cancels upcoming football game against Harvest Prep, citing mounting injuries and illness

Akron’s St. Vincent-St. Mary High School has canceled its upcoming varsity football game against Harvest Preparatory School, saying a combination of injuries and illnesses has “affected the team’s roster and ability to safely compete.” The private school made the decision to scrap the Friday contest after a small number of players recently came down with a bacterial skin infection, compounding a rash of injuries — some of which were season-ending, STVM said — that depleted the roster.
