MEDINA, Ohio-Medina City Schools’ 7.5-mill, 10-year emergency operating levy was narrowly approved by voters, with 50.46% in favor and 49.54% against. The passage of the levy will likely lead to the rescinding of an $8 million reduction plan that had been set for the next school year. Superintendent Aaron Sable expressed gratitude for the community’s support, acknowledging the difficult decision many faced. Board President Jeanne Pritchard announced that, at the November board meeting, the district will reverse planned cuts, including maintaining bus services, elementary schools, gifted programs, AP courses, and preserving around 100 staff positions. The district had previously planned cuts through attrition.
