CLEVELAND, Ohio-A 17-year-old Cleveland mother pleaded guilty in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court to two counts of gross abuse of a corpse regarding the death of her twin newborn babies. In exchange for the plea, several other charges, including involuntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence, were dismissed.
The infants were discovered in a trash can on May 20, 2023, in Cleveland’s Buckeye Shaker Square Neighborhood by their grandmother. The babies, named Kamari and Noah Baker, were found several days after birth. The cause of death was determined to be “inattention following premature birth, homicide” by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office. Sentencing is scheduled for June 4, presided over by Judge Nicholas Celebrezze.
