COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Columbus Metropolitan Library commenced construction on the new Barnett branch with a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday at 3434 East Livingston Ave. The existing location will be closed until the new building is completed in 2025.
Meanwhile, a temporary branch is operating at 3227 East Livingston Ave., with reduced collection size but focused on high-interest titles, open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The new Barnett branch, doubling in size to 22,000 square feet, replaces the Livingston branch opened in 1992. This project is part of the library’s plan to open new buildings for several branches, including Linden, Barnett, Canal Winchester, and Marion-Franklin, by 2025.
