Petitioner Sues BG Schools to get Issue on August Ballot

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio-A lawsuit has been filed in the Ohio Supreme Court against the Bowling Green Board of Education, alleging delays in processing a petition to secede from the school district. Attorney for the school district argues that the board responded promptly to the petition but delays occurred due to the initial submission of a defective petition.

The lawsuit, filed on behalf of Jamie Cook, blames the board for missing the Board of Elections’ deadline for the August special election ballot. The petition, covering acreage in Milton Township, was resubmitted without creating an island within the Bowling Green district after the first petition was rejected. The lawsuit seeks to compel the Wood County Board of Elections to accept the petition for the August election.
