Bootcamp Helps Tri-State Teachers Better Prepare Their Students for The Real World

WEST CHESTER, Ohio -The Teacher Bootcamp Program, available at UC Clermont College and seven other higher education campuses, focuses on enhancing career readiness among K-12 educators. Participants, including teachers and guidance counselors, engage in tours of businesses in Greater Cincinnati to learn about various job positions, skills required, and education pathways.

The program emphasizes high-demand sectors like manufacturing and healthcare. Participants, like Goshen High School science teacher Michael Kolkmeier, gain insights from professionals like Rick Brown, manager of Respiratory Care at UC West Chester, who shares his career path and highlights the demand for respiratory therapy jobs. Brown references data showing significant growth projections for respiratory therapy employment, compared to other healthcare roles like registered nurses. Educators aim to integrate these insights into their classrooms, emphasizing the importance of life skills alongside academic subjects.
