Lakota Schools Consider Slew of Traffic Safety Measures After Students hit, 1 Killed, in the District

WEST CHESTER, Ohio-Following a series of traffic accidents involving students, including the tragic death of Lakota East freshman Aspen Runnels, school district officials and local representatives held a public meeting to address community concerns. Family members of victims, such as Christina Alcorn and Trisha Parnell, expressed their grief and frustration, with Parnell noting that while the discussion was productive, it felt slow in coming.

Lakota Superintendent Dr. Ashley Whitely reported on recent safety measures, including extending crosswalks and conducting traffic studies to reduce speeds near Lakota East. For Lakota West, new lighting has been installed to improve visibility around the campus.
