I preach to my kids to expand their horizons and do things outside of their comfort zones, yet I have been happy behind a computer keyboard tapping out my thoughts and telling others’ stories for years; you know, “writing.”
But it was time to lead by example, so I took the position of internal substitute teacher — or “alternative educator” — at a local public school. Way outside of my comfort zone. Way outside, like miles.
