Why, when Cincinnati school district calls off school during snow, freezing temperatures

Cincinnati Public School (CPS) board members are calling for more clarity on winter weather closing policies following a major snowstorm in January.

Parents expressed confusion and frustration on social media after CPS decided to open schools on Thursday, January 9, despite colder temperatures than previous days when schools were closed.

“It’s ridiculous that CPS opened the school today,” said Kelly Traylor on January 9. “It’s so cold my car didn’t even want to start, and they’re little, they shouldn’t have to be out here in this crap.”
