BOWLING GREEN, Ohio-The bid for air conditioning three Bowling Green City School buildings came in under budget, nearly $700,000 lower than the estimated $4 million. However, the work won’t be completed until the beginning of the next school year. The Board of Education accepted a bid of $3,308,700 from Earl Mechanical Services for the installation of mini-split air conditioning systems in Bowling Green High School, Conneaut, and Kenwood elementary schools.
The completion date for all three schools is set for the week of Aug. 12-16. Despite the delay, the board welcomed the 17% savings on the overall cost. Additionally, progress is being made by the facilities advisory committee in studying the district’s building needs. The board approved a resolution of intent to participate in the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission’s Expedited Local Partnership Program for potential funding. Furthermore, another job fair is scheduled to address substitute needs for various positions within the district, including teachers, para-professionals, custodians, cafeteria workers, and bus drivers.
