MEDINA, Ohio-Shyrene Michelle Vargas, accused of hitting a nine-year-old boy in Medina in March, will attend a court hearing for a change of plea on Monday. She faces charges including failure to yield to a pedestrian, driving without a valid license, and driving under suspension.
The incident occurred when Vargas allegedly struck Landon McKay while he was crossing the street with his brother. Landon sustained minor injuries and was treated at Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital. Following the incident, authorities are considering safety enhancements in the downtown square. Vargas is scheduled to appear in Medina Municipal Court at 8:45 a.m.
