Chippewa Students Triumph at National Robotics Challenge

CHIPPEWA, Ohio-Nineteen students from Chippewa Jr/Sr High School showcased their engineering skills at the National Robotics Challenge (NRC) in Marion, earning six awards across five challenges. The competition included over 1,300 participants from 14 states.

Chippewa’s team impressed with 14 innovative robots, particularly excelling in the Box Bot event. Daniel Wilson’s Micromouse robot stood out for autonomously navigating and solving a maze, unmatched by other high school or college teams. Faculty members praised the students’ technical prowess and dedication. Superintendent Todd Osborn commended their representation of Chippewa and emphasized the school’s commitment to STEM education. The robotics program will be featured at the Wayne County Maker Extravaganza on July 27, showcasing robots constructed from 1959 Erector sets, combining traditional and modern technology.
