CINCINNATI, Ohio-Cincinnati Police Chief Terri Theetge expressed frustration over misbehavior among students at city bus stops, calling for collaboration with the Cincinnati Public School (CPS) district. During an unannounced appearance at a CPS School Board meeting, she highlighted a significant rise in youth-related incidents at transit centers, reporting 74 incidents in 2024 compared to 62 in 2023. The police department has spent $418,000 in overtime to manage these situations and noted that two-thirds of the 30 youth arrests since the school year began involved CPS students. Theetge urged the board to implement policy changes and allocate resources to address the issue. However, CPS Board President Eve Bolton expressed surprise at the unplanned presentation, stating that it left her feeling ambushed. Bolton assured that the district would hold students accountable for their behavior moving forward.
