No Shortage of Bus Drivers for School Year, Columbus City Schools Says

COLUMBUS, Ohio-As summer ends, Columbus City Schools (CCS) is preparing for the new academic year with a robust transportation system in place. With students returning to classes next Thursday, CCS has addressed previous bus driver shortages by hiring 465 drivers, training 37 more, and employing 25 supervisors. To enhance recruitment, the district has waived the $46 background check fee, which was a barrier for some applicants. Executive Director of Talent Management, Courtney Hale, emphasized the importance of bus drivers as crucial to student safety and education. Despite past challenges, CCS is now well-prepared and continues to seek additional bus drivers.
