School Board Honors Retirees, Welcomes New Superintendent

COPLEY, Ohio-At the May 21 regular board meeting of the Copley-Fairlawn City Schools Board of Education, 2024 retirees were honored, including outgoing Superintendent Brian Poe, recognized for his exceptional leadership during his 14-year tenure, notably in securing the passage of the district’s $50 million bond levy in November 2022.

Aimee Kirsch, the newly appointed superintendent, expressed excitement about her upcoming role, pledging an open-door policy and a commitment to exceeding community expectations. The retirees, along with April’s students of the month, were acknowledged for their contributions. Additionally, the board announced a public forum on June 15 to discuss employing Business Manager Steve Robinson post-retirement at a reduced salary. Moreover, the board addressed the recommendation to adopt foreign language and advanced placement psychology textbooks, available for review until June 25, with a vote expected at the June 25 regular meeting.
