Student United Way Gives $28,000 to Support Local Youth

BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio-Throughout the 2023/2024 school year, 28 juniors and seniors from 7 different schools participated in Student United Way, aiming to improve mental health among Logan County youth and address substance misuse, hunger, and personal hygiene issues.

They awarded over $28,000 in Youth Allocations grants to 12 local applicants, impacting students directly in their schools over the summer or next school year. The panel developed their own funding criteria, reviewed grant requests, and made final decisions, distributing funds to various programs such as mentoring, food programs, health/hygiene kits, and mental health initiatives. Student United Way will resume in the fall, and thanks were extended to advisors for their support throughout the year.
