GARFIELD, Ohio-A substitute teacher at Garfield Heights City School district was fired last week for allegedly dragging a 4-year-old student with autism across the floor. Staff members at William Foster Elementary witnessed the incident. The parents were not notified until five days later. The district has launched an investigation.
The teacher’s personnel and disciplinary files, including the termination letter, are being requested. No prior disciplinary notes were found with the state board of education. The police department is reviewing the case for potential criminal charges. The parents met with the superintendent, but most of their questions remained unanswered. The teacher has not been criminally charged yet.
