TOLEDO, Ohio-The Toledo Lucas County Public Library (TLCPL) is continuing to celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month, with 1,700 new sign-ups this September, bringing the total to 325,000 cardholders. Executive Director Jason Kucsna emphasized that library cards provide access to a wealth of resources, including books, online databases, and programs. The library aims to connect more children with reading materials to address post-pandemic educational challenges, as many students are reading below grade level. Initiatives like the Dolly Parton Imagination Library allow caregivers to register children ages 0 to 5 to receive a monthly book, promoting literacy and encouraging reading from an early age. Both library cards and the Imagination Library program are free.
