Turf battle – BG School Board to Spend Estimated $750,000 on Stadium Turf

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio-The Bowling Green Board of Education voted unanimously to allocate approximately $750,000 to install turf in the athletic stadium. Despite previous rejections for new school buildings, the board opted to utilize pipeline tax revenue to enhance athletic facilities for students.

Superintendent Francis Scruci expressed gratitude for the support, anticipating the turf to be ready for the upcoming football season. However, board member Tracy Hovest raised concerns about prioritizing athletic facilities over academic ones, citing deficiencies in teaching and learning facilities. Others argued that improving athletic facilities did not preclude efforts to enhance academic facilities, emphasizing a commitment to improving all facilities.
