AKRON, Ohio-PWC (Progress With Chess) began offering chess classes and summer camps in Akron schools two years ago. They recently held a free end-of-the-year tournament for chess students at Jennings CLC, with APS providing transportation and lunches. Another free chess tournament is scheduled at City of Joy Church on July 5, open to students from grade school to high school. The event starts at 9 a.m. with the first round at 10 a.m., and participants will be grouped by grade into K-4, 5-8, and 9-12 categories.
