Nine-year-old Ashley Escalante was looking forward to Christmas Day, because that’s when she was supposed to get a prosthetic limb for her left foot, which was amputated following a horrific hit-and-run crash in Dayton five months ago.
But Ashley fell out of her wheelchair a few weeks ago, breaking the femur in her thigh. She can’t begin using a prosthetic until the bone heals, and she is now expected to receive her mobility aid in mid-January.
