AKRON, Ohio-The Akron Education Association (AEA) has raised concerns about the all-day preschool program in Akron Public Schools, criticizing Superintendent Michael Robinson for allegedly making misleading statements. In response to staff complaints, Robinson suggested that concerns should not be directed to union representatives and warned of disciplinary actions for protocol violations. The AEA claims that while they support full-day preschool, educators’ concerns about program implementation, safety, and staffing have been overlooked. They highlighted issues such as inadequate staff leading to poor classroom management and critical needs like diapering not being met. Despite Robinson’s claims of adequate staffing, AEA members reported understaffed classrooms.
