AKRON, Ohio-The Akron teachers union has accused the school district of mishandling a serious safety incident at the I Promise School, where a “death note” listing 22 students and 30 teachers as targets was found. Union President Patricia Shipe stated that, despite identifying the student responsible, they were allowed to remain in class, and safety protocols were not followed. The union criticized the principal and assistant administrators for not alerting law enforcement or informing affected teachers and families. In response, the district defended its actions and disputed the union’s claims.
