SUGAR GROVE Ohio-Melissa Sheets, an elementary STEM teacher at Berne Union Elementary School, received a $5,000 Innovation Grant from the Ohio Education Association (OEA) Educational Foundation. The grant will introduce kindergarteners to coding through LEGO® coding sets and mats, aiding in teaching alphabet, counting, and other academic topics.
Sheets emphasized the importance of equipping students with problem-solving skills through technology and hands-on experiences. The OEA Educational Foundation supports programs advancing social justice and improving student learning, offering various funding opportunities annually.
