Burlington Elementary Students Learn to Make Apple Butter

SOUTH POINT, OH -On Thursday, students at Burlington Elementary had the opportunity to make apple butter right on the school’s front lawn, thanks to help from Hatcher’s Greenhouse and Lynd’s Sunrise Farm. The event started early, allowing students to watch the process from the beginning. They played an active role in making the apple butter and participated in a taste test to ensure it was just right. 5th grader Sam Payne described how the students started the fire, added ingredients, and even stirred the mixture, with red candies added for color. The jars of apple butter made during the event are now available for sale to the community.
