Columbus City Schools Board President Meets With Marion-Franklin HS Students About Possible Closure

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Marion-Franklin High School students voiced their opposition to the proposed closure of their school to Columbus City Schools Board President Christina Vera. The district plans to close and consolidate schools due to varying levels of capacity. Superintendent Dr. Angela Chapman emphasized that the plan is still open to community feedback.

Students highlighted the unique culture and tradition of Marion-Franklin, expressing concerns about losing their community and family connections if the school shuts down. They fear disruption to their education and social circles if transferred to another school. Vera assured the students that their voices matter and that their input is valuable in the decision-making process. Organizers of the meeting emphasized the importance of considering the students’ perspectives in preserving the identity and cohesion of the community.
