Columbus Faith Leaders Pray For Students, Teachers, Administrators Before Board Meeting

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Groups advocating for a pause in the Columbus City Schools building closure process held a “tailgate” event outside a board meeting, while local pastors organized a prayer circle for unity and wisdom in the decision-making process.

The tailgate participants urged the board not to close schools with strong English Language Learning programs, citing concerns about transparency and community feedback. Meanwhile, faith leaders prayed for guidance for district officials. Parents and teachers from schools like Cranbrook Elementary, with a high ELL population, voiced worries about the impact of closures on student learning and community cohesion.
