Driver Accused of Hitting 9-Year-Old Medina Boy Pleads no Contest

MEDINA, Ohio-In March, Shyrene Michelle Vargas was in court, accused of hitting a nine-year-old boy, Landon McKay, while he was crossing the street in Medina. Vargas pleaded no contest to failure to yield and driving under a suspended license.

She received fines totaling $150 and two points on her driving record. The incident prompted discussions about safety improvements in the area. Landon sustained minor injuries and was treated at Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital.
