AKRON, Ohio-Eros Dunkin, an eighth-grade student from North Adams, has won the $200 first place trophy in the 16th annual National Rubber Band Contest for Young Inventors. The contest, hosted by the Akron Global Polymer Academy, encourages students to design inventions or artworks incorporating rubber bands to promote interest in STE(A)M education.
Eros’s invention, named the “Reboundary”, falls under the Science and Engineering Division of the contest. The “Reboundary” aims to alleviate parking stress by signaling drivers not to cross the driveway’s edge, inspired by observing people struggling to park without encroaching on gardens or lawns. Eros’s invention offers a low-cost, recyclable solution to this common problem.
