Governor DeWine Announces Nearly $2.5 Million for Teen Driver Training Scholarships

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has announced nearly $2.5 million in grants to expand access to teen driver training for low-income families in Ohio. Thirty-five local school districts and government agencies will receive grants totaling $2,495,655 from the Drive to Succeed Scholarship Program.

Launched in 2022, the program aims to support teenage drivers whose families cannot afford the cost of a driving school. This funding is expected to provide driver training scholarships to approximately 5,500 Ohio students across 43 counties. Administered by the Ohio Traffic Safety Office, this is the second round of funding offered through the scholarship program.

The announcement aligns with Governor DeWine’s efforts to enhance traffic safety for young drivers, including initiatives like the Creating Opportunities for Driver Education Grant program, which expands driver training options in underserved areas.
