TOLEDO, Ohio-Father Michael G. Madden, a late priest from Sandusky, has been added to the Toledo Catholic Diocese’s list of clergy “credibly accused” of child sex abuse. His name joins those of 10 other deceased priests on a list that includes 26 clergy with substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or child pornography. Madden, who served in various parishes across northwest Ohio from 1963 to 1997, passed away in 2007. The diocese did not disclose when he was added to the list or how many accusations were made against him, and no notifications were given to parents or parishioners. Advocacy group SNAP expressed hope that the exposure of Madden’s alleged abuse would encourage victims to come forward.
