LIMA, Ohio-Lima City Schools hosted an International Resource Fair for non-English-speaking students and their families, providing access to community resources like The Language Tutoring Academy, Health Partners of Western Ohio, and The Salvation Army. The event aimed to connect families and promote student success, as there has been a significant increase in non-English-speaking students this year. Jeanette Weaver, an EL teacher, noted that attendance has more than doubled compared to last year. Emmarie Rolon-Colon, the district’s bilingual liaison, emphasized the importance of helping families navigate available resources to overcome language barriers. The English Learning Development Program continues to support students until they achieve English proficiency.
