LORAIN, Ohio-The Lighthouse Grill at Lorain High School’s culinary program is back in action after adjustments due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Equipped with new technology like the Toast system, students learn modern restaurant operations, from taking orders to managing payments.
The program emphasizes fundamental skills necessary for careers in the culinary industry, preparing students for roles as chefs or restaurant managers. With 90 to 100 students participating annually, the program also starts engaging students as early as 5th grade.
Graduates of the program pursue further education or enter the workforce, with some already working in esteemed restaurants or pursuing culinary education at institutions like Lorain County Community College.
